The Temple is actually located in a Residential locality known as Agaramel in Nazarathpet which is in the outskirts of Chennai, close to Poonamallee. Sri Haritha Vaarana Perumal Kovil is also known as Sri Pachai Vaarana Perumal Temple. The full name of the Temple is Sri Amirthavalli Thaayar Samedha Sri Haritha Vaarana Perumal Sri Mudhaliaandan Devasthanam. This is an East facing Temple with a five tiered Rajagopuram. Facing the Rajagopuram is a huge four pillared Mandapam and the base of these four pillars have intricately carved Images on them. This Temple is believed to be more than 1300 years old. It is also said that Sri Yuthishtran or Sri Dharmar had come here to Pray before Sri Haritha Vaarana Perumal to obtain Peace of Mind since He was said to be in a turbulent mood in those days of Mahabharatha.

On entering the Rajagopuram there is a stone Deepasthambam close to which is an East facing Yaanai Vaahanam. The base of the Deepasthambam has an Idol of Sri Anjaneya Swamy embosed on it. Then there is a Neivedhya Peedam or Bali Peedam and a taller Dwajasthambam or Kodi Maram. Devotees cannot enter the Moolasthanam through this way. The Temple has another four pillared Mandapam which is used on festive days. Instead they have to circumambulate and reach the Moolasthana Mandapam through a South facing entrance. Just before the Moolasthana Mandapam is another multi pillared Mandapam and the base of all the pillars have beautifully embosed Images on them and this includes Sri Narasimha Swamy Image too.  The Moolasthana Mandapam has a West facing Sub Shrine of Sri Garudalwar who is otherwise known as Periya Thiruvadi. This Garudalwar's Sub Shrine faces the Moolasthanam wherein the Presiding Deity is located. Standing guard before the Sanctum Sanctorum are two huge Dwara Baalaka Idols known as Jayan and Vijayan. In the Moolasthanam the Presiding Deity of Sri Haritha Vaarana Perumal who is known as Sri Pachai Vaarana Perumal in Tamil is seen East facing and in a sitting posture looking radiant and exquisite. He is flanked by His Consorts Sri Devi and Bhoo Devi who too are seen in a seated posture. There are two Sudharshana Chakkaram which are kept within the Moolasthanam. The Urchavamoorthy Idol is not seen in the Moolasthanam but instead is seen in the Kannadi Arai in the outer peripheral. To the right of the Moolasthanam are the Idols of Sri Ananthan, Sri Garudan, Sri Nammalwar, Sri Thirumangai Alwar, Sri Ramanujachariar and Sri Pillailogachariar who are all seen South facing. In the same Moolasthana Mandapam there is a South facing Sub Shrine of Sri Muthaliaandan Swamy whose Birth place happens to be in Agaramel in Nazarathpet. He is seen in a sitting posture in this Sub Shrine. Close to this is the East facing Sub Shrine of Sri Manavaala Maamunigal and Sri Ponnadikaal Jeeyar.

Just before the Thaayar Sannadhi is another four pillared Mandapam. The Thaayar in this Temple is known as Sri Amirthavalli Thaayar and Her Shrine is located in a multi pillared Mandapam which can be circumambulated by the Devotees. In Her Shrien Sri Amirthavalli Thaayar is seen East facing and in a seated posture. The Urchavamoorthy Idol of Sri Amirthavalli Thaayar is also seen within the same Shrine. The outer peripheral of the Temple has an East facing Sub Shrine of Sri Naga Devathas. To the rear of this Sub Shrine is a huge cemented stage where Divine functions pertaining to this Temple could be conducted on festive occasions. At one end of the stage is a South facing Sorga Vaasal or Paramapatha Vaasal which is opened on Vaikunda Ekadesi. The outer peripheral has another East facing Sub Shrine of Sri Aandal Nachiyar who is seen in a standing posture. Within this Sub Shrine is another South facing Sub Shrine of Sri Pallikonda Ranganathar which could be accessed through the Paramapatha Vaasal. While entering the Temple through the East facing Rajagopuram there is a South facing multi pillared Mandapam Sri Rama, Goddess Seetha and Sri Lakshmana are all seen in this Sub Shrine. The Urchavamoorthy Idols too are seen withiin the same Sub Shrine. The entrance of this Sri Ramar Sannadhi has a beautiful coloured stucco Idol of Sri Pallikonda Ranaganathar who is seen in a reclined posture. Close to this Sub Shrine is a Yaaga Saalai and a Kannadi Arai in which the Idols of the Urchavamoorthies are kept secured. Facing this Sri Ramar Sannadhi is the Sub Shrine of Sri Anjaneya Swamy who is seen in a standing posture. The Temple has its own Temple Office and a Madapalli in the outer peripheral. The Temple's Vaahanams are stored and kept in the multi pillared Mandapam.

The outer walls of the Temple is also built in a captivating way and there are a few Garudalwar Idols placed on it along with a Thirumann, Srichurnam, Sangu and a Chakkaram. At the far end of the street there is a Sub Shrine which faces the Temple of Sri Haritha Vaarana Perumal. In this Sub Shrine Sri Baktha Anjaneya Swamy is seen facing West and in a standing posture.
