Devi Karumari Amman Temple is located in Thiruverkadu on the outskirts of Chennai. There is a huge Welcome Arch on the main road leading to this Temple. The Temple is located close to the Thiruverkadu Bus Terminus. This Temple has a East facing Rajagopuram comprising of 5 tiers. A huge enclosure is found where the Temple's Charriot is safely secured. Before the construction of this Temple an Ant Hill was worshiped as Goddess Devi Karumariamman and this is now worshipped as a Puthu Mandapam and many Devotees come and Pray here. On entering the Temple there is a Peepal Tree or an Arasa Maram along with a Neem Tree beneath which Vinayagar and Naga Devathas are kept. On the right side there is a separate enclosure where many Vaishnava Perumals are found. The Moolavar here is Srinivasa Perumal and facing Him is a Garudalwar. Close to this is a Sub Shrine for Goddess Mahalakshmi. On the other side there is again a Srinivasa Perumal flanked by Sri Devi and Bhoo Devi and Andal too is found along with them. Lord Rama, Seetha, Lashmana and Anjaneya Swamy are seen and a Sudharshana Chakkram too is kept here along with the Idol of Saint Ramanujacharya. Opposite to Lord Rama is a very small Sub Shrine for Lord Hanuman. The Presiding Deity of this Temple is none other than Goddess Karumari Amman. Here, She is in the form of a Self Manifested or Swayambu Amman. Goddess Karumari Amman is also called as Karuvil Illa Karumari. There is an Idol of Goddess Ambikai just behind the Presiding Deity. She is also called as Mahakali. We can find a Skull, Sword, Trident, Drums and Fire in each hand of Goddess Ambikai. There are Sub Shrines for Lord Vinayakar, Lord Murugan along with Valli and Deivanai, Dakshnamoorthy, Durgai, Marachilai Amman and Kaala Bhairavar. Devotees carry Fire Pot and perform Angapradakshanam around this Temple in order to pay their respects to the Goddess Karumariamman. Some Devotees offer Vashtram or Saree to the Main Deity and Devotees who wish to do so may have to buy a ticket meant for this for Rs.10/- and this is available in the Temple counter close to Dhakshinamoorthy Sub Shrine. Within the Temple premises they are seva counters where various tickets could be purchased by the Devotees to fulfill their promises. This Temple has a Free Darshan and a Paid Darshan of Rs.50/- and Rs.20/- for its Devotees. Opposite to the Temple they have earmarked a place and have put up a tinned roofing.
