Arulmigu Muthumariamman Temple is located in Anjaneyar Kovil Street in Poonamallee close to the Main Road. The Presiding Deity of this Temple is Goddess Muthumari Amman who is an incarnation of Goddess Sakthi. This is a small Temple and they have erected a temporary roofing on the Main Road itself leading to the Temple. There is a small concrete arch on top of which are a few colourful Idols of Goddess Sakthi, Vinayagar, Murugan and on either side of these Idols two Simha Vaahanam are kept displayed. Initially this Temple was started with a Facial Idol of Muthumariamman in the Sanctum Sanctorum which was South facing. In the later years to come another new and bigger Muthu Mariamman Idol made out of a dazzling black stone was installed behind the older Idol. An Idol for Goddess Selliamman too is seen in the Sanctum Sanctorum. A pair of Dwara Baalakis Idols are seen at the doorsteps of the Moolasthanam. A Simha Vaahanam, a Bali Peedam and a Trident are seen facing the Moolasthanam. Close to the Sanctum Sanctorum is a huge Peepal Tree or a Arasa Maram. A Divine cloth is tied around this Tree. Beneath this Sacred Tree a two Nagathamman Idols could be seen. On the other side of the same Tree an Amman Idol along with the Puthu is seen. Turmeric and Kumkum is seen smeared all over the Puthu and this is regarded as a Divine place. Close to this they have earmarked a place for offering Pongal to Goddess Muthumariamman. At the rear end of the Temple there is a East facing Sub Shrine in which Goddess Vembuli Amman occupies the centre and She is flanked on either side by Ganapathy and Murugan. The Gopuram of the Moolasthanam is painted gorgeously in different colours and it displays various Idols of Goddess Sakthi. Around the Moolasthanam there are Idols for Sri Angalamman, Sri Durgai Amman and Sri Devi Karumariamman. The roof of the multi pillared Mandapam is also brightly painted in various colours. There is a small Office cum Motor room within the premises. They have a lamp stand where oil lamps could be lit for the Goddess. There is a waist high compund wall all around with an iron grill gate. This Temple attract a lot of Devotees from in and around Poonamallee on Tamil Aadi Month and on other auspicious days. The locals here rever this Temple as their favourite village Deity. This Temple is believed to exist for decades and is said to be much older to the Vaitheeswaran Temple located closeby. This is a small private Temple and the Temple Poojari Thambiah has to be appreciated for his Devotion and Sincerity.
