The actual name of the Temple in full is Sri Valli Devasena Samedha Sri Muthu Kumara Swamy Temple and it is located in Sivan Koil Street, Ramachandra Nagar in Ayyappanthangal, Chennai 600 056. This Temple is located in an interior residential locality of Iyyappanthangal. The Temple is East facing and is devoid of a Rajagopuram, Dwajasthamabam etc. An Idol for Selva Ganapathy could be seen on the left as Devotees enter the Moolasthanam. The Sanctum Sanctorum is East facing and the Presiding Deity of Sri Muthukumaraswamy who is also known as Murugan is seen in a standing posture and flanked by His Consorts Valli and Devasena. A colourful pair of Dwara Baalakas are found as Idols on the threshold of the Moolasthanam. On the interior side another pair of Dwara Baalakas known as Sri Kadamban and Sri Idumban are fould etched on a gold plating. A Peacock Idol along with a Bali Peedam and a Spear are seen facing the Sanctum Sanctorum. The Urchavamoorthy Idols of Kaala Bhairavar, Murugar, Vinayagar, Natarajar, Sivagami Ambal etc are found within the Moolasthanam. There is a Shrine for Lord Amirthakadeswarar which is East facing and in the form of a Shiva Lingam and He happens to be an incarnation of Lord Shiva. A Nandhi Vaahanam and a Bali Peedam is seen facing the Shrine of Amirthakadeshwarar. The Sub Shrine of Veera Anjaneya Swamy too faces the Shrine of Lord Amirthakadeswarar and a metal Mace is kept next to Him. There is an exclusive Shrine for Goddess Abirami who is South facing and is seen in a standing posture. The Idols of Thirugnana Sammandhar, Appar, Sundarar, Manickavasakar and Sekkizhar are seen and they together are known as Ivar. The Idols of Narthana Ganapathy, Dhaksinamoorthy, Maha Vishnu, Brahmma and Chandikeshwar are seen on the Koshtam of Lord Amirthakadeswarar. The Idols of Bala Dhandayudhapani and Kanaga Durgai are seen in the Koshtam of Lord Muthukumaraswamy. In the outer peripheral Sub Shrines for Sri Karpaga Vinayagar Sri Naga Subramaniyar and Swamy Iyyappan are seen. The Temple also has a Sub Shrine for Dasa Buja Kaala Bhairavar who is unusually seen with 10 hands and a Trident. The Navagraha Sannadhi has a concrete roofing with steel railings. Special places are ear marked for lighting oil lamps and for breaking coconuts. The previous Kumbabishekam was held on 22nd February 2019 under the auspicious of Sri Balamurugan Adimai of Rathnagiri, Vellore. The Temple has its own Office within the Temple premises. This Temple does not come under the State Govt. of Tamil Nadu. Sankadahara Chathurthi, Theipirai Ashtami, Pradosham, Vaikasi Visakam, Aippasi Annabishekam, Kiruthigai, Maha Shivarathiri, Karthigai Deepam etc are some of the festivals celebrated here and during that time the Temple attracts an overwhelming number of Devotees. The Temple could be easily located since it is situated close to Iyyappanthangal Bus Terminus.
