Singavaram is a small Village near Tindivanam in Viluppuram District. In earlier times Singavaram was known as Simhapura. This is a hilltop Temple and it could be reached by climbing around 165 steps. At the foothill there is a four pillared Oonjal Mandapam. Near the starting point of the steps is the Temple's Office and the Foot Print of Sri Ranganathar along with the Sangu and Chakkaram could be seen. This hill Temple has a multi pillared Rajagopuram with a Garuda Thoon, a Neivedhya Peedam or Bali Peedam and a Dwajasthambam or a Kodi Maram. The Idols of the Naga Devathas is seen beneath a Peepal Tree. There are two coloured Dwara Baalaga Idol who stand guard before the Moolasthanam. The Presiding Deity of this Temple is Sri Ranganathar who is an incarnation of Maha Vishnu. Sri Ranganathar who is measured around 14 Feet from toe to tip is seen in a Pallikonda Posture or Reclined Posture along with His Consorts Sri Mahalakshmi who is seen on His Chest and Sri Devi, Bhoo Devi. A five Headed Adhi Seshan stands guard to the Presiding Deity of Sri Ranganathar. Brahmma could also be seen from His Navel. It is the usual practice of the Devotees to see and worship Sri Ranganathar from three entry points. The Sanctum Sanctorum is a rock cut one and is supported by few pillars. There are Sub Shrines for Sri Lakshmi Narayanar, Sri Lakshmi Varahar, Brighu Maharishi, Athiri Maharishi, Kothandaramar, Alwars etc. The Temple has a Sacred Tank or Pushkarani on the hilltop and Devotees are allowed to take a Holy Dip in it. 

It is said that Narasimha Varman II had built this Temple in the initial stages. Later the Cholas and the Vijayanagara Rulers had a big hand in promoting this Temple. This Temple has withstood the onslot of several Muslim Invasions. Raja Desingh was keen on tjhis Temple and promoted it to the best of his ability.
