Annamputhur is a small hamlet away from Tindivanam to Pondy Road. The full name of this Temple is Sri Kanaga Thiripurasundari Ambal Samedha Sri Nidheeswarar Temple. This Temple is built in a serene location and the Temple is East facing. The Presiding Deity of this Temple is Sri Nidheeswarar and He is an incarnation of Lord Shiva. He Blesses His Devotees along with His Consort Goddess Kanaga Thirupurasundari. The Temple has no Rajagopuram. The Temple and the Moolasthanam are East facing whereas the Ambal's Shrine is South facing. There are a pair of Dwara Baalakas on the threshold of the Sanctum Sanctorum of Sri Nidheeswarar. Just outside the Moolasthanam is a stone Idol of Vadabi Ganapathy which was supposed to have been excavated recently and this dates back to the Chola era. The area before the Moolasthanam and Ambal's Shrine has a temporary tin sheet roofing. The entire Temple is built on an elevated podium and Devotees may have to climb 5 to 6 steps. This Temple is over thousand years old and it is believed that Raja Raja Chola has visited this Temple and worshipped Lord Nideeswarar. Inscriptions tell us that tis Temple was originally built by the Pallava Kings and later the Cholas too had a big hand in renovating it before time ravaged the Temple badly. The entire Temple complex was dilapidated and very recently the Devotees and the local villagers worked very hard in renovating this Temple to it's current structure. Recently consecration was performed on 9th April 2014. The Temple has a Neivedhya Peedam or Bali Peedam and a Nandhi Bhagawan facing the Sanctum Sanctorum. It is believed that Lord Kubera had come here and Prayed to Nidheeswarar and obtained immense wealth and so there is a belief that those Devotees who come here and Pray to Lord Nidhiswarar would get rid of their poverty by gaining wealth. Around the Koshtam the Idols of Ganapathy, Dhakshinamoorthy, Maha Vishnu, Brahmma, Durgai and Chandikeshwarar are seen. There are East facing Sub Shrines here of Lakshmi Ganapathy, Sidhar Sivagughanathar and Valli Devasena Samedha Nithya Kalyana Subramaniyar. There is a twin Sub Shrine facing West in which Sri Kaala Bhairavar and Dhana Agarshana Bhairavar are seen. A Navagraha enclosure is found under a temporary tin sheet roofing. Festivals like Mahashivarathri, Pradosham, Thei Pirai Ashtami and Chandi Homam are celebrated in a grand manner. The Temple is believed to shower kids to the childless couple and Marriage boon to those who are single. It is believed that those Devotees who visit this Temple would get benefitted financially and that their wealth may increase manifold.
The story behind the Temple is that Sri Brahmma and Sri Kuberan had come to this Temple and had Prayed to Sri Nidheeswarar for their betterment and the World's Development. The Great King Raja Raja Chola before assuming power had a lot of mental disturbances and disillusionment and had therefore come to this Temple and stayed here for several days so that he could seek redumption of his curses. During that time he had even built a golden rooftop for this Temple which was later believed to have been looted and vanquished by Malik Kafur and Afzal Khan in particular. It is also said that this Temple was plundered and destroyed fully. During the 1000th year celebration of Raja Raja Cholan the Idols of these Temple were found within the Earth and excavated. Thus the Temple was rebuilt gradually to what it is now. It is widely believed that those suffering from deep financial crises would be automatically rid of all those if such Devotees come and Pray here.
