This Temple is located in Kiliyanoor or Kiliyanur between Tindivanam and Pondicherry and is around 2 Kms from the main road. The Presiding Deity is Sri Agastheeswarar who is an incarnation of God Shiva. The Ambal or the Consort here is Goddess Akilandeswari. She has a separate Shrine of Her own and She Blesses Her Devotees from there. Goddess Akilandeswari has a Nandhi Vaahanam here instead of her usual Simha Vahanam. Sri Shiva is found as a Swayambumurthy in this Temple. This is one among the 276 Thevara Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalam. This Temple has gained prominence since its considered as a Rahu Kethu Parihaara Sthalam and many Devotees come here exclusively for this purpose. It was built around 1500 years ago by the Chola Kings. Saint Thirugnana Sambandar has sung in praise of this Temple.

It is believed that Saint Agastiyar installed a Lingam here and hence the name of the Saint to this Temple. It is said that Sage Kalava Maharishi had stayed in this Temple with his two daughters who had some serious health hazards. But its believed that their ailments were soon cured. Devotees who have marriage issues and those who dont have issues come to this Temple and its believed that their Wishes are granted sooner than later. There is a strong belief that drinking the Abishekam Milk cures one of their stomach ailments, such is its power. There is a Holy Water Body close to the Temple and beyond it is a Cemetry or a Mayaanam and it is believed that Sri Agastheeswarar keeps an eye on both and safeguards them, hence this Temple is considered on par with Kasi or Varanasi.

There are Sub Shrines for Sri Vinayagar, Sri Naalvar, Sri Murugan, Sri Gajalakshmi, Sri Chandikeshwarar, Sri Dhakshinamurthy, Sri Brahmma, Sri Maha Vishnu and Sri Durgai. The Durgai here in this Temple is a Sri Siva Durgai with 2 Hands only and without a Vaahanam. There are 2 Kaala Bhairavar here. They are called as Sri Krodhana Kaala Bhairavar and another normal Sri Kaala Bhairavar and both of them don’t have any Vaahanams. Sri Krodhana Kaala Bhairavar possesses both Siva Swaroobham and Vishnu Swaroobham. He holds aloft a Sangu, Chakkaram and a Siva Lingam too in His Hands. There is Navagraha enclosure and Naga Devathas kept separately. The Pushkarani is Agni Theertham and the Sthala Viruksham is a Vanni Tree. Maha Shivarathiri and Thiruvathirai are celebrated with much fanfare. This Temple has gained prominence since its considered as a Rahu Kethu Parihaara Sthalam.
