This is an East facing Temple with a five tiered Rajagopuram. The Temple is located on Arcot Road in Cheyyar which is a prime place. The full name of the Temple is Sri Parvathi Udanurai Sri Paksheeswarar Temple. Beyond the Rajagopuram there is a painting on the ceiling which depicts the Ashta Mangalam which are much close to Shivan and they are as follows: Venn Samaram, Kannadi (Mirror), Poorna Kumbam, Rishabam, Sangu, Deepam, Srivathsam and Swasthik. There is a Neivedhya Peedam or Bali Peedam, the Dwajasthambam or Kodi Maram looks impressive as though it is piercing the roof and going skywards and there is a Nandhi Vaahanam facing the Moolasthanam. The ceiling near the Dwajasthambam has a lovely painting of Sri Garudalwar Praying before a Shiva Lingam There is a Sub Shrine of Sri Narthana Vinayagar on the left and on the right is a Sub Shrine of Sri Valli Devasena Samedha Shanmugar. A lovely painting is found on the ceiling which depicts the Panchabootha Sthalangal viz. Chidambaram (Agaya Lingam), Thiruvanaikaval (Jala Lingam or Appu Lingam), Sri Kaalahasthi (Vaayu Lingam), Thiruvannamalai (Agni Lingam) and Kanchipuram (Prithvi or Bhoomi Lingam). There is an East facing Sub Shrine of Sri Somaskandar close to the Narthana Vinayagar Sub Shrine. To the right of the Sub Shrine of Sri Shanmughar is another East facing Sub Shrine in which all the Urchavamoorthy Idols are kept.

At the threshold of the Moolasthanam are two black Idols of Dwara Baalakas standing guard on either side. Close to the left side Dwara Baalaka Idol is a Sub Shrine in which an East facing Shiva LIngam is seen along with Ambal. Within the same Sub Shrine a North facing Garudalwar Idol is seen Praying to a Shiva Lingam. In the Sanctum Sanctorum the Presiding Deity of Sri Patcheeswarar who is an incarnation of God Shiva is seen East facing and in the form of  Shiva Lingam. Around the Koshtam of the Moolavar Sannadhi the Idols of Ganapathy, Dhakshinamoorthy, Maha Vishnu, Brahmma, Durgai and Chandikeshwarar are seen. In the inner peripheral some of the Naayanmaars among the 63 Naayanmaars are seen North facing while the rest of the Naayanmaars are East facing. On either side of these there are Idols of an East facing Vinayagar and Valli Devasena Samedha Subramaniyar. Between these Idols there are a few Naga Devathas and an East facing Idol of Sri Kirupanandha Vaariar. The inner peripheral has 8 South facing Idols of Sri Veeravaahu Devar, Sri Veera Kesari, Sri Veera Mahendrar, Sri Veera Maheswarar, Sri Veera Purandrar, Sri Veerarakadar, Sri Veera Marthandar, Sri Veerandhakar and Sri Veeradheerar. There is a Kannadi Arai in which the Idol of Sri Valli Devasena Samedha Subramaniyar is seen and this dazzling reflection of the Images makes it look even more eye appealing. There is a Sub Shrine of Sri Natarajar close to this Kannadi Arai.

The Ambal here is known as Sri Parvathy Ambal and She is seen in a standing posture in Her South facing Shrine. There are two Dwara Baalaki Idols who stand guard before the Ambal's Shrine. Facing this Shrine is a small Neivedhya Peedam and a Simha Vaahanam. Around the Kosham of the Ambal's Shrine are the Idols of Sri Maheswari, Sri Vaarahi, Sri Vaishnavi, Sri Brahmmi, Sri Saraswathi and Chandikeshwari. The ceiling near the Ambal's Shrine has Paintings of the 12 Raasis and they look impressive. There is a South facing Palliyarai in the outer peripheral. Close to this is an enclosure in which all the Vaahanams of the Temple are neatly wrapped and kept. 

The outer peripheral is designed in an exquisite way. All the pillars and ceiling are gorgeously painted and the floor is neatly tiled. There is an Alankara Mandapam and they have a portrait of Thirumuruga Kirupanandha Vaariar. There is also an East facing Sub Shrine of Sri Gajalakshmi. There is an East facing Sub Shrine of Sri Arumugham in which He is flanked by Sri Valli and Sri Devasena. There are two black Dwara Baalaka Idols who stand guard before the Sub Shrine of Sri Arumugam. Facing this Sub Shrine is a small Neivedhya Peedam and a Mayil or Peacock Vaahanam. Close to this Sub Shrine is a North facing Sub Shrine of Naalvar who include Thirugnana Sammandhar, Thirunavukkarasar, Sundarar and Manikavasagar. Alongg with them the Idol of Sekkizhar too is seen and hence some refer this Sub Shrine as Ivar Sannadhi. In the outer peripheral there is a South facing Sub Shrine of Sri Natarajar which is called as Arulgnana Peruveli. Along with Sri Natarajar Sri Sivagami Ambal and Manickavasagar are also seen. The Urchavamoorthi Idols of the 63 Naayanmaars are also seen within this Natarajar's Sub Shrine. 

There is a South facing Sub Shrine of Sri Bhairavar in which He is seen in a standing posture. There are two West facing Idols of Suryan and Chandran. There is a Navagraha Sannadhi which is beautifully designed. The ceiling above the Navagraha Sannadhi has a beautiful painting of the Navagrahams. There are two West facing Sub Shrines in which Sri Saneeswarar Bhagwan and Sri Anjaneya Swamy are seen in a standing posture. The ceiling opposite to these Sub Shrine has a painting of Sri Kamadhenu along with a Shiva Lingam. Opposite to the Temple is a Thirumuruga Kirupanandha Vaariar Nootrandu Mandapam which is used for all Divine and Religious purposes. Vinayagar Chathurthi, Aippasi Annabishegam, Arudhra Dharisanam, Masi Magam, Pradhosham, Navarathri, Maha Shivarathiri are some of the festivals are celebrated in a grand manner. This Temple is a Visaka Nakshatra Parihaara Sthalam and is widely accepted as a Pakshi Dosha Nivarthi Sthalam.
