The full name of the Temple is Sri Sankaranayagi Amman Samedha Sri Kandanatha Swamy Sri Aadhi Swaminadha Swamy Temple. Erakaram is also called as Eragaram or Eraharam. This Temple is located in a remote hamlet quite far off from Kumbakonam and Swamimalai. The Temple does not have a Rajagopuaram or a Dwajasthambam. There is a small Gopuram facing East and and on top of it Shiva, Parvathi, Ganapathy, Murugan and a few other Idols are colourfully displayed. On entering there is a small Bali Peedam and a Nandhi Vaahanam facing the Moolasthanam. On the left is a small Pillayar Sub Shrine with an Anaya Vilakku nearby. There is a long multi pillared Mandapam leading to the Sanctum Sanctorum. Midway on this pillared Mandapam is a Navagraha Sannadhi on the right side. In the Sanctum Sanctorum Sri Kanthanadha Swami who is an incarnation of Shiva is seen East facing and in the form of Shiva Lingam. Around the Koshtam of the Moolasthanam are the Idols of Narthana Vinayagar, Dhakshinamoorthy, Lingothbhavar, Brahmma, Durgai and Chandikeshwarar. The Ambal Sannadhi of Goddess Sankara Nayagi Amman is on the right when entering the Temple from the entrance. She is seen South facing and in a standing posture. On the outer peripheral there is a Sub Shrine with a small and colourful Gopuram in which Sabhai Vinayagar is seen. Next to it is the Sub Shrine for Aadhi Swaminadha Swami who is supposed to be here even before the times of the Moolavar in Swamimalai Temple. This Aadhi Swaminatha Swamy is all alone and in a standing posture. The next Sub Shrine is that of Goddess Gajalakshmi. In the outer peripheral there is a temporary roofing in which a Shiva Lingam, a Maha Lingam, Suryan, Bhairavar and Naga Kannigaigal are neatly displayed. This Temple has a Madapalli or a Temple Kitchen from 2008 onwards. Several varieties of Plants and Trees are to be found in the Nandavanam or Temple Garden. The Temple Kumbabishegam was performed on 19th March 2014. This Temple is under the care of the State Government. Valarpirai Shasti, Theipirai Shasti and Kiruthigai are celebrated drawing several Devotees from in and around this area.
