This Temple is also known as Sri Kasi Viswanatha Swamy Temple and it is situated near the Northern Bank of the Maha Maha Tank or Maamaanga Kulam. The Temple faces West and it has a 5 tiered Rajagopuram. On entering the Temple there is a small Vinayagar Sub Shrine which is West facing. Beyond this is a Bali Peedam, a Dwajasthambam or a Flag Staff and a Nandhi Vaahanam which is kept facing the Sanctum Sanctorum. A Navagraha Sannadhi is found just before entering the multi pillared Mandapam leading to the Moolasthanam. A pair of colourful Dwara Baalakas are placed on either side of the threshold leading to the Moolasthanam. On entering further there are another pair of black Dwara Baalaka Idols near which a Ganapathy and a Subramaniyar Idol are placed. In the Moolasthanam Sri Kasi Viswanathar who is an incarnation of Lord Shiva is found as a Shiva Lingam. Close to this is a Ambal Sannadhi of Goddess Visalakshi which is South facing and the Urchava Idol is also seen here. There is a Naalvar Sannadhi in which the Idols of Appar, Sundarar, Manikavasagar and Thirugnana Sammandhar. There are Sub Shrines for Vinayagar, Murugan, Somaskandar and Nava Kannigaigal. The Nava Kannigaigal are deemed to be Ganga, Yamuna, Godhavari, Saraswathi, Cauvery, Narmadha, Thungabadra, Krishna and Sarayu. These Nine Rivers gathered a lot of Sins due to the Devotees bathing in them. Hence Lord Shiva asked all of them to bathe in Kumbakonam Maha Maham Tank to get rid of their Sins. After bathing in the Maamaanga Kulam these Nava Kannigaigal were able to see Lord Kasi Viswanathar who Blessed them all. There is a Palliyarai and a Natarajar Sannadhi closeby. Around the Koshtam of the Sanctum Sanctorum Durgai, Chandikeshwarar, Brahmma, Lingothbhavar, Dhakshinamoorthy and Narthana Ganapathy. In the inner peripheral Suryan, Chandran, Saneeswaran, Brahmmi, Maheswari, Goumari, Chamundi, Vaishnavee, Varahi, Indrani, Jeshta Devi and Bhairavar Idols are neatly displayed. The Idols of Veera Anjaneyar and Mahishasura Mardhini have been embedded in the walls of ths pillar. In the outer peripheral there is a Dyana Mandapam in the name of Kamakshi Amman. There is a Yaaga Saalai in the outer peripheral and closeby is the Kshethra Mahalingam which was reverred and Prayed by Lord Rama when He visited this place. Beside this is a Nandhi Vaahanam, but this Nandhi does not look at the Shiva Lingam and instead seem to look at the Devotees. The Temple has a Madapalli and Annadhanam is a feature of this Temple. A Temple Office functions within the Temple premises. The Temple has two huge concentric walls and between them they maintain a Temple Nandavanam wherein they have saplings and plants of all varieties. Plants to indicate the 12 Raasi and the 27 Nakshatram is very interesting. There is a shop selling flowers and other Divine articles pertaining to this Temple. Maha Shivarathri, Pradasham, Thiru Karthigai, Aarudhra Dharisanam are some of the functions celebrated in a grand manner.
