Nathan Kovil is a small village located on the outskirts of Kumbakonam. Sri Jagannatha Perumal Temple or Sri Nandipura Vinnagara Temple is located in Nathan Koil. This Temple is highly praised in Naalayira Divya Prabhandham and is one of the 108 Divya Desams dedicated to Maha Vishnu. In this Temple Sri Srinivasa Perumal is the Presiding Deity and He is considered as an incarnation of Maha Vishnu. The Consort of Sri Srinivasa Perumal is Sri Shenbagavalli Thaayar who is an incarnation of Sri Lakshmi Thaayar. Though a Vaishnavaite Temple it gives great prominence to Nandhi Bhagwan. Nandhi is the Sacred Bull of God Shiva but to get relieved from certain curses that He incurred, He Prays to Maha Vishnu in this Temple. All the Sub Shrines and the Pushkaranis related to this Temple is named after Nandhi Bhagwan. Likewise it is believed that Goddess Lakshmi did Penance to find a place in the Chest of Maha Vishnu. 

This Temple has a four tiered Rajagopuram. In the West facing Sanctum Sanctorum the Presiding Deity of Sri Srinivasa Perumal is seen Blessings His Devotees. Within the same Moolasthanam the Urchavamoorthi Idols known as Sri Jagannatha Perumal or Sri Nandhinathar or Sri Vinnagara Perumal is seen flanked by Sri Devi and Bhoo Devi. Sri Brahmma is also seen within the Moolathanam. Facing the Moolasthanam is a Dwajasthambam, a Neivedhya Peedam and a Garudalwar. There are two huge Dwara Baalakas Idols who stand guard before the Moolasthanam. The Thaayar's Shrine is situated separately in which Sri Shenbagavalli Thaayar is seen in a sitting posture. There are Sub Shrines for Sri Aandal, Alwars, and Anjaneya Swamy. Another Sub Shrine of King Vijayaranga Chokkappa of the Nayaka Dynasty is seen in which his two wives is flank him on either sides. History confirms that this Temple was promoted by Pallava, Chola, Vijayanagara and Thanjavur Nayaka Rulers. This Temple is said to remove all types of Marriage Obstacles. Likewise issueless couple who come here are Blessed with a Kid very soon. The Sthala Viruksham of this Temple is Shenbaga Maram and the Pushkarani is named after Nandhi Bhagwan and is called Nandhi Pushkarani. Vaikunda Ekadesi, Pavithrothsavam are some of the Festivals that are celebrated in a grand manner.
