Edayarpakkam is a very small village around 25 Kms away from Kanchipuram and in the earlier days it was called by the name Raja Vidhyadhara Chathurvedhimangalam. Some still call this Temple as Kulothunga Sri Mahadevar Temple since it was the Chola Kinga Kulothungan who built this Temple on the advice of his close confidante Cholendra Simhachari. The Temple itself has been built in the middle of Agricultural fields. The Temple here is known as Sri Mahadevar Temple but the name of the Presiding Deity is Sri Thirupaadhakaadudaiyar. It is a very small East facing Temple with a still smaller Sanctum Sanctorum built in the Gajabrushtam style since it resembles the back of an Elephant. There is no Rajagopuram or a tall Dwajasthambam. Instead there is a Neivedhiya Peedam or Bali Peedam  along with a Nandhi Vahanam facing the Moolasthanam. In the East facing Sanctum Sanctorum there is a Shivalingam of Sri Mahadevar who is considered as an incarnation of Lord Shiva. Apart from this there is a Maha Vishnu statue close to the Presiding Deity. There are Sub Shrines for Niruthi Vinayagar and Dhakshinamoorthy, Brahmma and Durgai. Most of the Idols around the Koshtam are either dilapidated or mutilated. The Temple has a Lotus Pond close to its proximity. Now the Temple is maintained by The Archaeological Survey of India.
