Kattavakkam is a small village close to Thenneri and Walajabad in Kanchipuram District. The new Temple was consecrated in the year 2007. Kattavakkam is a quiet village and there is a small North facing entrance to this Temple. The Temple does not have any Rajagopuram or Dwajasthambam. Though the Temple's main entrance is North facing the Moolavar and the Moolasthanam are East facing. Facing the Sanctum Sanctorum is a Garudalwar Sannadhi looking towards the Moolasthanam. To the rear of the Garudalwar Sannadhi is a huge Neivedhya Peedam or Bali Peedam. There are two huge Idols of Dwara Baalakas at the doorsteps of the Sanctum Sanctorum. In the East facing Moolasthanam the Presiding Deity of Sri Viswaroopa Lakshmi Narasimha Perumal is seen in a seated posture on five Peedams known as 1) Koorma Peedam, 2) Aadhaara Peedam, 3) Padma Peedam, 4) Anantha Peedam and 5) Yoga Peedam with His Consort Goddess Lakshmi on His left lap. From the base to the top this Idol of the Presiding Deity measures roughly 25 Feet and the actual height of the Moolavar alone is around 16 Feet high. He is seen seated East facing beneath a seven hooded Adhi Seshan and looks awesome and resplendent to the eyes of the onlookers. He is seen with four hands with the upper two hands holding a Chakkaram and Bow and Arrow. The lower two hands is seen displaying an Abhaya Hastam and Varadha Hasta postures. He has 12 mighty teeth depicting the 12 Raasis. It is unique that Sri Viswaroopa Lakshmi Narasimhar is seen with a third eye on His forehead. His Left Eye denotes Chandran, Right Eye denotes Suryan, the Third Eye denotes Sevvai, Nostrils denotes Sukkaran, the Upper Lip denotes Guru, the Lower Lip denotes Budhan, Right Ear denotes Kethu, Left Ear denotes Raahu, His Tongue denotes Shani Bhagwan. In a nutshell the face of Sri Viswaroopa Lakshmi Narasimhar has all the Navagrahams and their attributes and therefore this Temple is considered as Navagraha Parihaara Sthalam. The finger nails of the Perumal are long and razor sharp to tear away anything. His Consort Goddess Lakshmi who is seated on the Left Lap of Sri Viswaroopa Lakshmi Narasimhar is seen holding His Waist with Her Right Hand and Her Left Hand is seen holding a Lotus. The Vimanam over the Moolasthanam is known as Sathya Gnana Vimanam.
The Urchavamoorthy Idols of Perumal with Sri Devi and Bhoo Devi is seen in the centre. The other Urchavamoorthy Idols of Sri Chakkarathalwar, Goddess Lakshmi, Sri Lakshmi Narasimhar, Sri Panchamuga Anjaneyar are also seen within the same Moolasthanam. There are North facing Idols of Sri Aandal, Nammalwar, Thirumangai Alwar, Ramanujar, Desigar, Adhivann Sadagopa Yatheendra Maha Desigar and similarly their Urchavamoorhty Idols too are placed beneath them. Apart from them there are Idols of Sri Koorathalwar and Sri Muthalai Aandan who were disciples of Sri Ramanujar. Similarly there are Idols of Sri Chakkarathalwar and Sri Vijayavalli Thaayar. Sri Parthasarathy and Sri Kalyani who were instrumental in establishing the Temple have their Idols here. This Temple has a West facing Sub Shrine of Sri Anjaneya Swamy and a South facing Sub Shrine of Sri Vishwaksenar.
The cemented peripheral of the Temple has a North facing Sub Shrine of Sri Dhanwanathri Perumal with a stucco Image of His on the Gopuram. Sri Dhanvanthri Perumal is seen North facing in His Sub Shrine in a standing. He is considered as a Panacea for all incurable ailments too. Next to this is the North facing Sub Shrine of Sri Lakshmi Bhoo Varaha Swamy with His stucco Image seen on the Gopuram of the Sub Shrine. Within this North facing Sub Shrine Sri Bhoo Varaha Perumal is seen along with His Consort Goddess Lakshmi. Next to this is the Sub Shrine with a stucco Image of Sri Lakshmi Hayagreeva Swamy. Within this East facing Sub Shrine Sri Hayagreeva Perumal is seen along with His Consort Goddess Lakshmi. The Temple has a Madapalli or Temple Kitchen for their Divine Rituals. Close to the peripheral there is a huge Divine Well. The Temple has a well maintianed Ghoshala or Ghomadam. There is a small room for the Security Person of the Temple. There is a Temple Office functioning within its Premises. Narasimha Jayanthi, Hayagreeva Jayanthi, Sri Rama Navami, Hanumath Jayanthi, Vaikunda Ekadesi are some of the Fuctions are celebrated with great fanfare. Devotees visiting this Temple would be doubly Blessed with since the Bhattachariar looking after the Pooja lives very close to the Temple and could be called at any given time. This Temple is a Navagraha Dosha Parihaara Sthalam.
