Kattavakkam is a small village close to Thenneri and Walajabad in Kanchipuram District. Sri Vishwaroopa Lakshmi Narasimha Perumal Temple is believed to be around 1000 years old but still there is no Sthala Puranam for this Temple. The new Temple was consecrated in the year 2007. Kattavakkam is a quaint village. The Presiding Deity of this Temple is Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Perumal who is an incarnation of Maha Vishnu. His Consort here is Goddess Lakshmi. The Presiding Deity looks massive and the Idol measures around 25 feet from its base to the top. The Moolavar alone measures around 16 Feet in Height. Sri Viswaroopa Lakshmi Narasimha Perumal is seen in a seated posture beneath a multiple hooded Adhi Seshan. The Moolavar Deity of Sri Vishwaroopa Lakshmi Narasimha Perumal is seen with 12 Teeth which indirestly refers to the 12 Raasis. To begin with the Moolasthanam of this Temple was the first to be built. Later the Artha Mandapam, Maha Mandapam and other Sub Shrines were gradually added. The Veetrirundha Perumal has His Consorts Goddess Lakshmi seated on His lap. The Consort, Goddess Lakshmi is seen holding Sri Vishwaroopa Lakshmi Narasimha Perumal with Her right hand while Her left hand holds aloft a Lotus Flower representing Peace and Prosperity. The Presiding Deity of Sri Viswaroopa Lakshmi Narasimha Perumal is seen with a Sudharshana Chakkaram and Bow and Arrows in His rear left hand and rear right hand respectively. His front right hand portrays Abhaya Hastham whereas His front left hand shows Varadha Hastham. The Presiding Deity is believed to have a third eye on His forehead which implies His Divine Omniscience. The seven headed Hood of the Aadhi Seshan dazzles with glittering Nagarathinam Jewels. The Temple is considered as a Navagraha Parihaara Sthalam.
