The Presiding Deity of this Temple is Lord Sanjeevirayar and He is considered as an incarnation of Lord Hanuman. It is believed that some bits and peaces of Sanjeevi hills fell here while Hanuman was taking the Sanjeevi Hills to Srilanka and Hence the Preisding Deity came to know as Sanjeevirayar. This Temple is one of the ancient Temple in Kanchipuram. This Temple was built by Sri Lakshmi Kumara Thathachariar in the 14 - 15 century AD. This Temple has a huge Sacred tank measuring 150 acrs and it is called as Lakshmi Saras. At the entrance there is a Four pillered mandapam. In fornt of the Sanctum Sanctorum there is a 24 pillared where Goddess Lakshmi can be seen. The Presiding Deity can be seen in a standing posture and is facing north. Hanumath Jayanthi and Sri Rama Navami is celebrated in a grand manner here in this Temple.
