Sri Prasanna Venkadesa Perumal Temple is located in Thirumangalam on the outskirts of Sunguvarchatram. This is a newly built Vaishnavite Temple in Sunguvarchatram. This Temple does not have any Rajagopuram. Sri Prasanna Venkatesa Perumal Temple is an East facing Temple with a Neivedhya Peedam or Bali Peedam, a Dwajasthambam or Kodi Maram and a Garudalwar Sannadhi which is West facing and looking towards the Moolasthanam. The entire Temple has been built making use of black granite stones. This makes it look exquisite and dazzling in the backdrop of the golden colour Vimaanam. Devotees may have to climb a few steps to reach the level of the Temple premises. The Moolasthana Mandapam is made up of multi pillars. The Gopuram of this Moolasthana Mandapam has stucco Idols of Sri Prasanna Venkatesa Perumal at the Centre flanked by Sri Padmavathy Thaayar, Sri Andal, Sri Anjaneya Swamy, a Sangu, a Chakkram and two Garudalwars on either side.
There are two black Dwara Baalakas standing guard on either side of the Moolasthanam. In the East facing Sanctum Sanctorum the Presiding Deity of Sri Prasanna Venkatesa Perumal look resplendent in a standing posture. Sri Prasanna Venkatesa Perumal looks sublime with 4 hands. His upper 2 hands holds a Sangu and a Chakkram. There is a sparkle in the eyes of Sri Prasanna Venkatesa Perumal and they seem to captivate the onlooking Devotees. The Urchavamoorthi Idols of Sri Srinivasa Perumal flanked by His Consorts Sri Devi and Bhoo Devi is also seen within the same Moolasthanam. To the left of the Moolasthanam is the East facing Shrine of Sri Padmavathy Thaayar who is seen in a sitting posture. The Urchavamoorthy Idol of Goddess Sri Padmavathy Thaayar is also seen within the same Moolasthanam. On the other side there is a Shrine for Sri Aandal who is seen in an East facing and standing posture. The flooring and the ceiling of the multi pillared Mandapam is seen with black stones that are amazing to look at.
The Vimanam of the Moolasthanam of the Presiding Deity Sri Prasanna Venkatesa Perumal looks gorgeous in its contrast golden colour. The Dasavathara Idols are placed equidistantly in the Vimanam of the Moolasthanam. Devotees can circumambulate the Temple through the outer peripheral and the flooring is neatly done. At one end of the Temple is a West facing Sub Shrine of Sri Anjaneya Swamy and they have erected a temporary roofing to save the Devotees from the vageries of Nature. The Idol of Sri Anjaneya Swamy is made out of black stone and is massive to look at, thereby creating a sense of fear and confidence in the minds of the Devotees looking at Him. The Temple has a huge compound wall and an iron gate. It is heartwarming to note that this Temple has been built by the contributions of the Devotees and Well Wishers in and around this area. The Temple has a Madapalli or Temple Kitchen for the Temple Rituals and for distributing Prasadams to all Devotees.
Monthly Ekadesi, Ammavasai, All Saturdays, Thiruvonam, Vaikunda Ekadesi, Hanumath Jayanthi, Panguni Uthiram, Thiruvadipooram, 5 Days Purattasi Grand Festival are some of the functions celebrated in a grand manner. Sri Balaji Bhattarchariar has to be complimented for his meticulous handling of the Divine Rituals and the pleasing manners that he has while talking to the Devotees visiting the Temple of Sri Prasanna Venkatesa Perumal.
