Sri Selva Vinayagar Temple is located on the main road in Sunguvarchatram which is close to Sriperumbudur in Kanchipuram District. This is an East facing Temple with a three tiered Rajagopuram. The outer Gopuram of the Temple has coloured Idols of Swamy Iyyappan, Anjaneya Swamy, Amman, Sri Murugan and Sri Ganapathy. At the outset there is a rectangular Mandapam before the Moolasthanam and many Devotees are seen sitting here and Chanting Slogams. There is a West facing Moonjur Vaahanam and a Neivedhya Peedam just before the Moolasthanam. There are two huge coloured Idols of Dwara Ballakas who stand guard at the entrance of the Moolasthanam. In the East facing Sanctum Sanctorum the Presiding Deity of Sri Selva Vinayagar is seen. As everyone knows Vinayagar is the first and foremost God and hence there is a steady inflow of Devotees visiting this Temple. The Koshtam of the Moolasthanam has the Idols of Narthana Vinayagar, Dhakshinamoorthy, Maha Vishnu, Brahmma, Durgai and Chandikeshwarar.
In the peripheral there is a North facing Sub Shrine in which three coloured Vinayagar Idols are seen together. The next Sub Shrine too is North facing and in this there are colured Idols of Brahmma, Saraswathi, Maha Vishnu flanked by Sri Devi and Bhoo Devi, Shivan and Parvathy. In the peripheral there is a Sub Shrine in a four pillared Mandapam. Atop the Gopuram of this Mandapam there is an Idol of Shivan and Parvathy in a standing posture facing East and flanked by two Nandhi Vaahanams. In this East facing Mandapam a Kailaya Kaatchi is depicted with Shivan and Parvathy seen seated in the centre with Pillayar, Murugan, Maha Vishnu, Brahmma, Sugabrahmma Rishi, Naradhar, Anjaneya Swamy, Agasthiyar and Avvaiyar who are all seen together. The Next East facing Sub Shrine has the Idols of Sri Nagathamman and Sri Vaarahi Amman who are seen in a seated posture. The next East facing Sub Shrine is that of Sri Murugan. Next to this is the East facing Sub Shrine of Sri Ramar who is seen falong with Goddess Seetha, Lakshmana and Anjaneya Swamy. The outer peripheral has a South facing Sub Shrine in which Sri Vinayagar is seen at the centre and flanking Him are Sri Murugan and Sri Ayyappa Swamy.
Apart from this is an exclusive East facing Sri Swamy Ayyappan Sannadhi who is seen in a Yoga posture. A small Natarajar and Sivagami Ambal Idols are also kept just outside the Sub Shrine. In the next Sub Shrine Sri Kasi Viswanathar is seen East facing in the form of a Shiva Lingam and close to this is a South facing Idol of Sri Kasi Visalakshi. Facing this Sub Shrine of Sri Kasi Viswanathar is a Neivedhya Peedam and a Nandhi Vaahanam. The next Sub Shrine is that of a South facing Kaala Bhairavar who is seen in a standing posture. The Navagraha Sannadhi is quite different from that of other Temples. Here the Navagraha Sannadhi is seen mounted on a Chariot and the ceiling next to it bears 12 coloured Idols of the 12 Raasis. To the rear of the Moolasthanam is the Sacred Tank or a Pushkarani of this Temple. The Temple is situated in a strategic place due to which Devotees travelling by foot to Thirumala Tirupathi come here and get the Blessings of Sri Selva Vinayagar before the onset of their long journey. This Temple has an exclusive Sub Shrine of Sri Ayyappan due to which several Ayyappa Devotees turn up here during Sabarimala season for the Irumudi function. Vinayagar Chathurthi, Pradosham, Shasti, Thiru Karthigai, Arudhra Dharisanam are some of the functions that are celebrated in a grand manner.
