Maduramangalam is an Agricultural village close to Sunguchathram in Kanchipuram District. The full name of the Temple is Sri Kamalavalli Thaayar Samedha Sri Vaikunta Perumal and Sri Embar Temple. This Temple has an East facing five tiered Rajagopuram. The Temple has a huge compound wall on all four sides. On entering the Temple there is a South facing Sub Shrine of Sri Manavaala Maamunigal. Opposite to this is the Temple's Kitchen or Madapalli. This Temple has a stone Dwajasthambam, a Neivedhya Peedam or a Bali Peedam, a tall Dwajasthambam and a West facing Garudalwar Sannadhi looking towards the Moolasthanam. Devotees cannot go beyond this since it is closed and hence they may have to circumambulate and enter the Moolasthanam through the South. There are two huge Idols of Dwara Baalakas who are East facing and in a standing posture and they are guards for the Sanctum Sanctorum. In the East facing Moolasthanam the Presiding Deity of Sri Vaikunda Perumal is seen East facing. Sri Vaikunta Perumal is seen in a standing posture flanked by His Consorts Sri Devi and Bhoo Devi. The Idol of Sri Embar Swamy is also seen within the same Moolasthanam and He is South facing. The Urchavamoorthy Idols of Sri Vaigunda Perumal and His Consorts are also seen in the Moolasthanam. The Urchavamoorthy Idol of Sri Sudharshanar is also seen in the Moolasthanam. Usually in other Temples 12 Alwas are seen but unusually there are only five Idols of Alwars here in the Maha Mandapam and they are South facing.
The Temple has an East facing Shrine for the Thaayar in a multi pillared Mandapam. The Consort is known as Sri Kamalavalli Thaayar and She is seen in a sitting posture. The Urchavamoorthy Idol of Sri Kamalavalli Thaayar is also seen in Her Shrine. Similarly there is another multi pillared East facing Mandapam of Sri Andal. In this multi pillared Mandapam Sri Aandal is seen East facing and in a standing posture. The Urchavamoorthy Idol of Sri Aandal is seen in the same Sub Shrine. At the far end of the street there is a West facing Sub Shrine of Sri Anjaneya Swamy looking towards the Temple.
It is important to mention here that Maduramangalam was known in earlier times as Mazhalai Mangalam. This place gains more importance since this happens to be the birth place or Avadhara Kshethram of Sri Embar Swamy. The former name of Sri Embar Swamy is said to be Sri Govinda Bhattar. Sri Embar Swamy is said to be a staunch Disciple of Sri Ramanujar and it is said that Sri Embar Swamy always used to wear a Pendant given by Udayavar. As said earlier Maduramangalam is the birth place or Avadhara Kshethram of Sri Embar Swamy. Remembering Him they have built an East facing Brindavanam to the rear of the Temple. Religious functions are conducted in this Embar Swamy Brindhavanam during the Punar Poosa Nakshatram of Tamil Thai Month. This Brindavanam is built in a sprawling area and has a lush green Nandhavanam with a huge compound wall and gate.
There is no particular Sthala Viruksham for this Temple. The Sacred Tank or Pushkarani is known as Garuda Theertham or Subarna Sarasee Theertham and it is located just outside the Temple premises. The Temple is said to have miraculous curative effects in getting rid of all Eye ailments of the Devotees. Childless couple who come here are Blessed with a Kid and hence it is believed that this Temple Blesses all such Childless Couples. This Temple has a huge Temple Chariot or Temple Car at the street end and this is safely secured in an enclosure.
