Cheranmahadevi is located between Thirunelveli and Ambasamudhram. Sri Ramaswamy Temple is also known as Sri Ramar Temple and is seen East facing. The Temple does not have any Rajagopuram, instead there is a multi pillared Mandapam with the name board of the Temple. On entering this multi pillared Mandapam there is an Idol of Sri Rama with Goddess Seetha and Anjaneya Swamy at the base of one pillar, facing this pillar is the Idol of Sri Lakshmana at the base of another pillar. Beyond this is a Neivedhya Peedam or Bali Peedam and a Dwajasthambam or Kodi Maram placed in a four pillared Mandapam. The Dwajasthambam seems to pierce the ceiling and go skywards. Next is the Sri Garudalwar Sannadhi facing Westwards towards the Moolasthanam.
Then is another multi pillared Mandapam whose pillars have been intricately carved with well designed Yaali Idols on them. The Vaahanams of the Temple are also stacked in this multi pillared Mandapam. On proceeding towards the Moolasthanam there are Alwar Idols along with that of Sri Viswaksenar and all these Idols are South facing. The following is the name of the 12 Alwars: Poigai Alwar, Bhoothath Alwar, Pei Alwar, Kulasekara Alwar, Nammalwar, Thirumazhisai Alwar, Periyalawar, Madhurakavi Alwar, Thondaradipodi Alwar, Thirupaan Alwar and Thirumangai Alwar. Just before the Moolasthanam are two huge looking Dwara Baalaka Idols. Beside the left Dwara Baalaka is a small East facing Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Idol. Beside the right Dwara Baalaka Idol is a small East facing Idol of Sri Krishna. The Vimanam of the Moolasthanam is made up of 3 tiers and is known as Ashtanga Vimanam. Though the Temple is known as Sri Ramaswamy Temple the name of the Presiding Deity is Sri Aadhi Narayana Perumal who is seen East facing in a standing posture, flanked by His Consorts Sri Devi and Bhoo Devi. The Urchavamoorthy Idol is known as Sri Ramaswamy who is seen along with Goddess Seetha, Sri Lakshmana and Sri Anjaneya Swamy. The Temple is named after the Urchavamoorthy Sri Ramaswamy. There are steps leading to the Moolasthanam located in the first floor. The Moolasthanam in the first floor is East facing and the Presiding Deity who is known as Sri Veetrirundha Perumal is seen in a sitting posture flanked by His Consorts Sri Devi and Bhoo Devi. Besides them the coloured Idols of Sri Markendeyar and Sri Brihu Maharishi are seen in a seated posture. A small colured Idol of Sri Garudalwar and Sri Anjaneyar are seen at the doors of this Moolasthanam. From the first floor which is the middle tier of the Temple there are narrow and steep steps leading to the top tier of the second floor. Elders and sick may find it tough to climb these narrow steps. In the top tier / second floor Moolasthanam the Presiding Deity who is known here as Sri Thiruparkadalnathan is seen in a reclining posture beneath a Hooded Aadhiseshan. Sri Devi and Bhoo Devi are seen flanking Him and Sri Brahmma could be seen popping out from His Naabi Kamalam or Naval. Besides them the Idols of Sri Brihu Maharishi and Sri Markandeyar is also seen in a seated posture. It is customary in this Temple to take the Urchavamoorthy Idol of Sri Ramaswamy on a procession around the Town and hence He is more popular among the locals.
The Temple's outer peripheral has a Sub Shrine of Sri Vedha Narayana Perumal who is seen East facing. Within this Sub Shrine Sri Vedha Narayana Perumal is seen in a standing posture flanked by His Consorts Sri Devi and Bhoo Devi. Looking towards this Sub Shrine is an Idol of Sri Garudalwar. Similarly the outer peripheral has an East facing podium on which the Idols of Sapthamathas or Saptha Kannigaigal are seen. Facing them is a small Neivedhya Peedam. There is a South facing Sub Shrine of Sri Anjaneyar with a tin sheet roofing. In this Sub Shrine Sri Anjaneya Swamy is seen in a standing posture with a Mace by His side. It is the custom of the local Devotees to come to Sri Anjaneya Swamy's Sub Shrine and Pray to Him before commencing any auspicious work. There is a small Vinayagar Idol, a Shiva Lingam along with a Naaga Devatha Idol close to the Sub Shrine of Sri Anjaneya Swamy. The Temple has a Madapalli for its use. The outer peripheral of the Temple hasn't been maintained well and is full of weeds, unwanted plants and creepers. If local volunteers of Uzhavaarapani opt to clean it there could be no match for this Temple. The Temple's Pushkarani is located closeby and could be seen visibly from the second floor of the Temple but the Purohit is not able to throw light on its name and other intricate details. Purataasi Garuda Seva, Sri Rama Navami, Krishna Jayanthi, Marghazhi Theppothsavam and Vaikunta Ekadesi are celebrated in a grand manner.
