Kurukkuthurai Murugan Temple or otherwise called as Sri Subramania Swamy Temple is located just 9 Kms away from the main town on the banks of River Tamirabarani. There is always a saying that River Tamirabarani never gets dried up even in peak summer heat. This Temple is located so close to River Tamirabarani that every year during the monsoon rainy season water enters the Temple and almost submerges the whole of it.  The Presiding Deity of Kurukkuthurai Murugan is worshipped here as a God of War and Victory which clearly reveals His Valour. Sri Subramaniya Swamy is found in the Sanctum Sanctorum of the Temple along with His two Consorts Valli and Devasena.  Apart from the Presiding Deity Lord Murugan there are Idols of Shiva, Parvathi and Ganesh.  Another unique thing in the Temple is that we could find the statues of many National Leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, VOC, Swami Vivekananda kept in the Temple tower. A rock located closeby to this Temple was used for carving the Murugan Temple in Thiruchendur. Since this Temple is on the banks of River Thamirabharani and gets submerged seasonally, there are lots of Tourists apart from the normal Devotees.  Any Pilgrimage to this District becomes incomplete without a visit to this Temple.  Since the Temple gets inundated for some of the year many call this Temple as a Seasonal Temple and one should be vigilant and cautious while wading through waters.
