Urukunda is a small village in Andhra Pradesh and its close to the Temple town of Mantralayam. A single road leads us to the Urukunda Temple from Mantralayam. The Main Deity is Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. In the Sanctum a Silver Idol of Sage Eeranna Swamy or Veeranna Swamy is found along with the Main Deity. Behind the Main Deity a Peepal Tree which is also called as Ashwath Narayan Tree is found growing rampantly. The area above the Tree is left uncover without any roofing. Hence Devotees could worship this sacred Tree from all 4 sides of the Temple even if the Temple is closed. A new pillared Mandapam has been built in recent years. It is believed that Sage Veeranna Swamy in those days made Penance or Thapas under this Tree. Guru Ragavendraswamy along with his disciples had visited Urukunda to seek the Blessings of Lord Narasimha Swamy and Veerabadra Swamy. Maha Shivarathiri and the third Monday of the Sharavana Month is very auspicious with several lakhs of Devotees gathering here and cooking food of their own after a sacred bath in the Thungabadra Canal nearby. Many Devotees visit this Temple with a fond prayer to get rid of their Physical and Mental illness. Tamarind Rice and Curd Rice is distributed to all as Annadhanam. An Idol of Lord Ganesh along with Nag Devthas are found beneath a Tree on the outer peripherals. The Temple charges various fees to have a different types of darshan here. Photography is strictly prohibited and Mobile Phones and Cameras have to be deposited at an exclusive counter put up by the Temple Management. The Temple has an exclusive space for performing Marriages and Head Tonsuring. Likewise they have marked places for Breast Feeding the Kids. There are several small eateries and other fancy shops all around the Temple. There is ample car and two wheeler parking space.
