Sri Muthu Kumara Swami Temple is located in a village called Perumbedu which is near Ponneri in Tiruvallur District. Sri Muthukumarasami Temple is also called as Perumbedu Murugan Temple. This is an East facing Temple with the Presiding Deity of Sri Muthukumaraswamy or Sri Murugan who is the son of God Shiva. This Temple does not have any Rajagopuram. This is an East facing Temple with a Gopuram that contains the Idol of Sri Muthukumarasamy flanked by Devasena and Valli. Apart from them there is another coloured Idol of Sri Ganapathy and Sri Palani Andavar. Before the main entrance there is a Sub Shrine on the right and this Sub Shrine is East facing with a Vel or Spear atop a Lotus Podium.
Towards the Moolasthanam is a Vel or Spear that has been firmly planted to the ground. Next to it is a tall Dwajasthambam or Kodi Maram in an open area. There is a Moolasthana Mandapam comprising of multiple pillars. The Gopuram of the Moolasthana Mandapam has lovely coloured Idols of Murugan and His Consort, Shiva, Parvathy, Maha Vishnu, Lakshmi, Brahmma, Saraswathy, Vinayagar, Narathar etc and it is a real feast to the eyes of the Devotees seeing it. In the East facing Sanctum Sanctorum the Presiding Deity of Sri Muthukumara Swamy is seen in a standing posture and He is flanked by His Consorts Devasena and Valli. Unlike other Murugan Temples His Consorts Valli and Devasena seem to have swapped their places while standing with Sri Muthu Kumara Swamy. It is said that the Idols of the Presiding Deity of Sri Muthukumara Swami and His Consorts are not Swayambhu. Though these Idols are not Swayambhu in Nature many say that they were dug out and excavated from the Earth and placed within the Sanctum Sanctorum. These Idols are believed to be several centuries old. There is plaque in this Temple which states that the Idols of the Presiding Deity of Sri Muthukumara Swami and His Consorts Devasena and Valli were dug out from the Earth on 3rd June 1976 around 8.30 AM and later installed in the Sanctum Sanctorum with full Rituals. Around the Koshtam of the Moolasthanam there are Idols of Narthana Vinayagar, Dhakshinamoorthy, Maha Vishnu, Brahmma, Durgai and Chandikeshwarar.

The outer peripheral has a South facing Sub Shrine of Sri Kaala Bhairavar. Close to this is an East facing Sub Shrine in which the occupant of a Galloping Horse Driven Chariot is Sri Muthukumaraswamy Himself while the Charioteer is Sri Brahmma. The Navagraha Sannadhi in the outer peripheral is elegantly built with the Navagrahams and their Vaahanams placed on top of a budding Lotus. To the left of the Dwajasthambam are two huge Virukshams. They are a Peepal Tree and a Neema Tree around which a circular podium is built. There are two North facing Sub Shrines beneath the Virukshams the first Sub Shrine has Idols of Vinayagar and Naga Devathas while the second Sub Shrine has exclusive Idols of Naga Devathas. The Temple has its own Temple Kitchen or Madapalli within its premises. There is a Sacred Tank or Pushkarani available for this Temple but it is full of Filth and Weeds.
