Sri Ranganathar Temple is located in a small village called Devadanam close to Minjur in Ponneri Taluk. Devadhanam village is an interior village and could be reached by private vehicles. The full name of the Temple is Sri Ranganayaki Samedha Sri Ranganathar Temple. The fame of the Temple has reached far flung places and Devotees have started calling this Temple as Vada Srirangam. Sri Ranganatha Swamy Temple is East facing and has a 3 tiered Rajagopuram. There is a small Thumbikkai Alwar to the right of the Rajagopuram kept beneath a huge Tree. Devotees may have to climb 5 to 6 steps to reach the Temple. On the inner side of the Rajagopuram facing the West is an Idol of Kalinga Narthana Krishnar and a Vinayagar which are found on either side.The Temple has a Neivedhiya Peedam or Bali Peedam, a Dwajasthambam or Kodi Maram and a Garudalwar Sannadhi facing the Moolasthanam. The Moolasthana Gopuram has an Idol of Sri Ranganatha Perumal who is seen in a reclined posture beneath the Adhi Seshan. There are two huge black Dwara Baalaka Idols who stand guards before the Moolasthanam. The Presiding Deity is Sri Ranganatha Perumal is an incarnation of Maha Vishnu and He is found in a reclined posture beneath the five headed Aadhi Seshan. It is believed that the Presiding Deity of Sri Ranganatha Perumal is made out of Saligrama Stone. It is also noteworthy to mention that No Thirumanjanam is done to Sri Ranganathar. Since the Presiding Deity is seen in a very relaxed and reclining posture it is said that Sri Devi and Bhoo Devi seem to be sitting and caressing the Divine Feet of Sri Ranganathar. The Idol of Sri Brahmma could be seen as though it is coming out of the Navel of Sri Ranganathar. Devotees could see the Idols of Thumburu Maharishi and Baktha Anjaneyar close to the Divine Feet of Sri Ranaganathar. The Urchavamoorthy Idol of Sri Ranganathar is seen flanked by His Consorts Sri Devi and Bhoo Devi within the Sanctum Sanctorum. Close to the Urchavamoorthy Idol is an East facing Idol of Sri Bhoga Srinivasa Perumal. The Moolavar of this particular Temple is a replica of the Moolavar of Srirangam Perumal Temple and hence this Temple is called as Vada Srirangam. The Main Deity of Sri Ranganatha Perumal is around 18 Feet long and 5 Feet high. In the Maha Mandapam close to the Moolasthanam there are 3 East facing Idols and they are as follows: Manavaala Maamunigal, Vishvaksenar and Nammalwar. Close to them the Idols of Poigai Alwar, Boothath Alwar, Pei Alwar, Kulasekara Alwar, Thirumazhisai Alwar, Peri Alwar, Thondaradipodi Alwar, Thirupaan Alwar, Thirumangai Alwar, Madurakavi Alwar and Sri Ramanujar or Udayavar are seen South facing. The Idols of Desigar and Sri Venugopalan are seen West facing. Close to the Idol of the right Dwara Baalagar is an Idol of Sri Lakshmi Narayana Perumal who is presumed to have found from a lake close to the Temple long ago.
The Temple's outer peripheral has a Vasantha Mandapam and close to this is the East facing Shrine of the Thaayar. In this Shrine Sri Ranganayagi Thaayar is seen in a sitting posture Blessing the Devotees. Close to this is the East facing Sub Shrine of Sri Chakkarathalwar and to His rear Sri Yoga Narasimhar is found West facing. Close to this is an East facing Ant hill along with the Idols of Naga Devathas. The Aandal's Sub Shrine too is East facing and She is seen in a standing posture. The outer peripheral also has a Silver Divine Feet. The Baktha Anjaneya Swamy is seen in His West facing Sub Shrine in a standing posture. The Temple has a Madapalli for Perumal 's Religious Daily Rituals and for the distribution of Prasadam to the Devotees. This Temple is fondly revered by the people of North Chennai and Tiruvallur and it is a Kula Deivam to many residing in and around Minjur. It is believed that the Chalukya Kings had built this around 1000 years ago on a huge sand mound. Vaikunda Ekadesi, Hanumath Jayanthi, Narasimha Jayanthi, Sri Rama Navami, Tamil Month of Margazhi and Purattasi are some of the festivals that are celebrated in a grand manner. The Temple is considered as Sukran Sthalam.
