Perambakkam is a well known and important village in Tiruvallur District. Sri Soleeswarar Temple is also known as Sri Soleeshwarar Temple or Sri Sholeeshwarar Temple. The full name of the Temple is Sri Kamakshi Ammai Udanurai Sri Soleeswarar Temple. Some refer this Temple as Sri Somanatha Choleeswarar Temple. The Temple is located on the inner side of Perambakkam. It does not have any Rajagopuram. Instead there is a South facing entrance with a small Gopuram on which the stucco Idols of Shivan, Parvathy, Vinayagar and Murugan are seen. Though the Temple's main entrance along with the Gopuram is South facing the Presiding Deity and the Sanctum Sanctorum are East facing.
The Temple has a Neivedhya Peedam or Bali Peedam, a tall Dwajasthambam or Kodi Maram and a Nandhi Vaahanam beneath a four pillared Mandapam facing West and looking towards the Moolasthanam. Devotees cannot enter through this side since there is no entry point. Instead there is a gapping hole on the wall here to facilitate the Nandhi Bhagwan to see the Presiding Deity of Sri Sholeeswarar. Devotees entering through the South gate may have to climb a few steps to reach the Moolasthanam. In the Sanctum Sanctorum the Presiding Deity of Sri Somanatha Soleeswarar is seen East facing and in the form of a Swayambhu Shiva Lingam. It is firmly believed that this Presiding Deity of Sri Soleeswarar cures a Devotee of all Neurological disorders such as Stroke, Epilepsy, Seizures etc. Hence there is a steady inflow of Devotees on Mondays since the Temple is kept open for such disorders. Around the Koshtam of the Moolavar the Idols of Sri Narthana Ganapathy, Dhakshinamoorthy, Lingothbhavar, Brahmma, Durgai and Chandikeshwarar are seen but the Durgai Amman is seen more prominent since they have remodelled it as a Sub Shrine. Her Sub Shrine attracts a lot of Devotees on all Tuesdays durind the Raahu Kaalam when special Poojas are done to Her. Within the Moolasthana Mandapam the Ambal known as Sri Kamakshi Ambal is seen in Her South facing Shrine in a standing posture.
In the outer peripheral there is an East facing Sub Shrine of Sri Sakthi Ganapathy. The Gopuram of this Sub Shrine has a stucco Idol of Sri Sakthi Ganapathy. Within the Sub Shrine Sri Sakthi Ganapathy is seen in a seated posture. Facing this Sub Shrine is a small Neivedhya Peedam and a Moonjur Vaahanam. Then there is an East facing Sub Shrine of Sri Kasi Viswanathar who is seen in the form of a Shiva Lingam. Parellel to this is another East facing Sub Shrine in which Sri Subramaniyar is seen flanked by His Consorts Valli and Devasena. The unique factor of this Sub Shrine is that the Head of the Peacock Vaahanam is to the left / North of Sri Subramaniyar unlike that of other Temples where the Peacock's Head is to the right / South of Sri Subramaniyar. The Gopuram of this Sub Shrine has a stucco Idol of Sri Subramaniyar in a standing posture flanked by Valli and Devasena. Facing this Sub Shrine is a Mayil Vaahanam and a small Neivedhya Peedam. The Subramaniyar of this Temple observes Shasti but Soorasamhaaram is not performed here. There is a South facing Sub Shrine of Sri Bhairavar who is in a standing posture and close to this Sub Shrine is a Yaaga Saalai which is West facing. Apart from these there is a Navagraha Sannadhi in the outer peripheral and next to this are two South facing Sub Shrines of Sri Vinayagar and Sri Naagar. The Sub Shrine meant for Sri Ayyappa Swamy is comparitively bigger than those of other Sub Shrines. It is a South facing Sub Shrine in which Sri Ayyappa Swamy is seen in a seated posture. Facing this Sub Shrine is a Neivedhya Peedam and a Puli / Tiger Vaahanam. This Temple has two Sthala Virukshams as Arasa Maran and Vilwa Maram. This Temple has an exclusive Temple Kitchen or Madapalli. Vinayagar Chathurthi, Aippasi Annabishegam, Arudhra Dharisanam, Masi Magam, Pradhosham, Navarathri, Maha Shivarathiri, Sankadahara Chathurthi, Kirthikai, Shasti, Theipirai Ashtami are some of the festivals are celebrated in a grand manner. Since the Temple is known to cure Devotees from all their Neurological Disorders there is a steady inflow of Devotees here.
