The Presiding Deity of this Temple Manneeswarar who is an incarnation of Lord Shiva. He Blesses His Devotees along with His Consort Goddess Maragathambikai Ambal. The Presiding Deity of this Temple is a Self Manifested Swayambhu Shiva Lingam. This Temple was built by Koluthunga Chola-I at the end of 11th Century. It is one of the 108 Shivan Temple that has been built by Chola Kings in Thondai Mandalam. The Utchavar is little taller and Surya and Chandran can be seen on His Kavasam. Like many other Shiva Temple this Temple also has Koshtam where Lords Ganapathy, Dakshinamuthy, Vishnu, Brahma and Goddess Vishnu Durgai can be seen. There are separate Shrines for Lord Vinayaka, Subramanya and He can be seen along with His Consorts Valli and Deivanai. In Mahamandapam Bronze Idols of Natarajar - SIvakami and Uma - Chandrashekar can be seen. This Temple is different from the other Shiva Temples since the Nandhi here does not face the Sanctum Sanctorum but instead turns away from it. Festivals like Brahmmothsavam, Pradosham, Shivarathri are celebrated in a grand manner.
