The Presiding Deity of this Temple (Dhandeeswaram Temple,) is Lord Dandeeswarar and He is an incarnation of Lord Shiva. He Blesses His Devotees along with His Consort Karunambikai. There is a Shrine for Lord Veerabadra unlike other Temples He can be found in a sitting posture. The Sun Rays falls on the Presiding Deity on the first day of Thai Month. This Temple was built by Pallava Kings and was rebuilt during  the Chola Era. The Sthala Viruksham of this Temple is Vilwam Tree and The Theertham is known as Ema Theertham. This Temple is 500 years old. Chitra Poornami, Full  of Aadi Month, Shvrathri, Aipasi Annabiheshekam are celebrated in a Grand Manner.
